2. Series – Edexcel Further Pure Mathematics 2 (FP2)

What students need to learn:
Summation of simple finite series using the method of differences.
Students should be able to sum series such as \(\displaystyle\sum_{r=1}^n \dfrac{1}{r(r+1)}\) by using partial fractions such as
\(\dfrac{1}{r(r+1)} = \dfrac{1}{r} – \dfrac{1}{r+1}\) .
